Fun Dance Classes for Boys & Girls

About me

My name is Miss Emma Louise Barrass, BA (Hons). I am the club leader and dance teacher for Emma Louise Dance Club. I am a qualified dance teacher and hold Teaching Dance to Children, LOCN (Level 3) qualification. I have Enhance CRB Disclosure Scotland and I am First Aid Trained. I have at least 20 years dance experience and have taught dance to children of all ages in schools (Primary and Secondary), dance schools and on Summer Camp in America. Emma Louise Dance Club opened in 2006 offering fun dance classes and workshops for children in the Newton Stewart area.

Classes

The Emma Louise Dance Club has a variety of classes in Kirkcowan, Creetown, Newton Stewart, Garlieston and Kirkinner. All dance classes are taught over a progressive ten-week term. On the last lesson of term parents/carers are invited to watch the children perform the dance routines they have learnt during the ten-week term. Children attending Emma Louise Dance Club classes will receive a certificate each term. Certificates are presented in the last lesson of each term. Emma Louise Dance Club has three terms (winter, spring and summer) designed to fit in with the school year. Dance classes run during the school term and we do our best to avoid running classes in the school holidays.

Performances

The Emma Louise Dance Club presents one show a year. The show takes place at the end of the summer term, (usually last week June/first week of July). Children are encouraged to take part in the show, but involvement in the show is not compulsory. The shows are a great opportunity for children to share their dance routines with each other, work with others in Emma Louise Dance Club and experience performing to a larger audience. Our first show, Summer Spectacular 2007, involved forty children and was enjoyed by all who attended the performance. The 2008 production Land of Make Believe explored magic and fairy tales and was a huge success.

Galas and Festivals

During the summer holidays Emma Louise Dance Club is available to participate in the many galas & festivals in the area. In summer 2007 we were happy to perform at Wigtown Community Festival, Adamson Square Celebration in Creetown and Kirkinner Gala Day. We also performed at the Cancer Research Relay for Life. In 2008 we will be participating in Whithorn Gala Day and Galloway Pageant. Children are encouraged to take part in galas & festivals, but involvement is not compulsory. Galas & festivals are a great opportunity for children to contribute to community activities and gain confidence by performing to a larger audience.

Workshops and Education

The Emma Louise Dance Club offers a variety of dance workshops such as Winter Dance Workshops 2008 and Summer Holiday Dance Workshops 2008. Workshop sessions usually take place in the school holidays and provide children with opportunity to explore different types of dance while having lots of fun.

Emma Louise Dance Club is also proud to have delivered dance workshops in Primary Schools for Active Schools Programme, Wigtown Community Festival, Bladnoch Folk and Blues Festival, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and a variety of other local youth groups. Emma Louise Dance Club enjoys delivering fun dance workshops and participating in community events and education programmes.
